Racing onto the market next month is the Begode EX 100V. This slick new electric unicycle is looking to be extremely promising, with a wide range of features and quality-of-life improvements that make it a great purchase. But what are these features, I hear you ask…

Here’s a neat overview of all that the EX 100 has to offer…

Appearance:

Firstly, let’s discuss the Begode EX design.

As for the dimensions, when unfolded, here are its measurements: H= 615mm,

L =510mm, W =460mm.

And when neatly folded up: H=615mm, L=510 mm, W=250mm.

This 200mm difference in width might not sound like a lot, but in reality, that’s a lot of space saved, especially if you take the EX as carry-on luggage on a plane or train, or in the back of a tightly packed car.

As you can see, the EX is quite the nifty little one-wheel, but don’t let its small size deceive you, as this thing is powerful, which is something we’ll talk about later.

As for the wheel on its own, its diameter is 508mm, which is the perfect size for maintaining balance while riding, but not having it take up too much space when folded.

The footrests sit a comfortable 190mm above the ground.

The EX, however, is somewhat heavy, weighing roughly 38kg, so it might not be ideal to carry it for long periods of time, but this one ever so slight downside is outweighed by the many positives of the EX’s design.

Performance and Hardware

For its size, the EX packs a big punch. Its average cruising speed is around 25km/h, which is perfect for use in both busy towns and cities or more rural areas.

But without load, this unicycle can race along at over 75km/h!

Quite possibly the best feature of the EX when it comes to performance, is its range. The EX has an insane range of up to 230km! It also has a max climb of inclines up to 25 degrees, and a max load of 130kg, making the EX very versatile when it comes to type of terrain and type of rider.

In terms of its power and technical ability, the EX comes with a hollow motor that produces around 3500W when working at full capacity, which again, is great for its compact size.

The EX is fitted with an LG M50T 21700 battery which produces 2700wh at 100V. In terms of charging the battery, a 100V/3A comes packaged in with the EX. Its charging time is ~9 hours. The EX comes installed with dual charging ports, both of which are fitted with 20A short circuit protection.

Rider and Unicycle Protection

As to be expected, the EX comes with top-grade safety features that protect not just the rider, but the unicycle itself. The EX utilizes a very effective beep system to alert the rider to any problems.

In terms of over-speed: 30km/h ,2beeps/sec or 3beeps/sec, 45km/h

In terms of battery and power: low voltage, <7.2km/h, 2 beeps/sec or low voltage, >14.4km/h, 3 beeps/2 sec or extreme low voltage, 1 beep/sec, total 5 beeps.

Other alarms: PCB overheat, 2 beeps(short); hall malfunction, 2 beeps per 0.5 sec

If the main board was to overheat, there would be a flurry of urgent beeps in quick succession from the wheel, before the footrests start lifting backward.

Finally, the EX will automatically shut off to protect the rider when a wheel is leaning at a 35° angle from a forward to backward direction, or a 45° tilt from the left or right.

Extra Features

Finally, let’s talk about some of the additional, quality of life features that the EX has to offer.

The official app that is compatible with the EX allows the user to set the horizontal level or any footrest angle of the rider’s choice, making it ergonomic and customizable for every user.

The EX also comes with a nice bright headlight that is adjustable between 100~6000 lumen.

And finally, you can use your mobile phone to connect to the built-in Bluetooth speakers within the wheel and jam to your favorite music while riding!

Well, that was a quick overview of the EX 100V. All of this combines to produce a great product that will be well worth picking up when it comes out in October!
